 Hold your baby in a standing position, on their tippy toes. They will try and get on their feet, creating a jumping motion. This is a great way to exercise their limbs. 

Singing is a great way to develop their communication skills. Nursery rhymes are often repetitive, therefore ideal for babies. If you can’t think of any nursery rhymes, Alexa and Youtube could be of great help. 

2. Move baby’s legs in a cycling motions

Lay the baby on their back and move their legs in a cycling motion. You can have music to make this activity even more exciting. Alternatively, sing to the baby while stretching their legs. 

This is a great way to bond with the baby while stretching their limbs. If your baby has been having gas issues, this is a sure way to release the discomfort. 

3. Have dance time together with baby

Hold your baby up and dance with them. You can sing or play some music as you dance. Be sure to mix up slow and fast songs to keep the baby interested. 

This is a great way to create a bond between you two. Dancing along nursery rhymes will sure develop the baby’s communication skills. 

4. Talk and read to them

I know talking without substantive responses may seem weird. But it is a fantastic way to build your baby’s communication skills. They will only know how to talk if you talk to them.

Narrate stories to them, your day’s activities, ask them questions or their opinions. It doesn’t matter at this age, as long as you are communicating with them. 

Always read stories to your baby. Buy children books and read out to them every day. It is a great way to build their communication skills. 

5. Tummy time

Laying your baby on their tummy and watch them move is a great way to exercise their back and neck muscles. You will also be improving their ability to roll over. 

Babies do not love tummy time. For this reason, you have to keep them interested. Position yourself in front of the baby and encourage them to reach out. Alternatively, you can place a toy in front of them and watch them crawl over to get the toy. 

It is advisable to have them on their tummy for at least 30 minutes a day. While on their belly, they will try to lift their head, a great way to strengthen their neck muscles.

6. Play in front of a mirror

 This is one of the babies’ favorite activities. They love watching their reflection. You will realize that they initiate different movements, just to watch their reflection do the same.

As babies hate tummy time, a mirror in front of them is a sure way to keep them interested. You will realize that they will sometimes try and reach out for their reflection while on their tummy. Just be sure that the mirror is safe for the baby. 

7. Tie balloons on their feet and let them kick

This is a fun way to exercise your baby’s feet and neck. Tie one or two balloons on your baby’s foot and have them lie on their back.

They will love the thrill and will move their head to watch the balloons float in the air. The side-to-side movement is a great way to develop their neck muscles. 

8. Spend time looking at colorful picture books 

A lot of children’s books will have brightly colored images. Show these images to your baby while making conversations. Baby will sure enjoy looking at these images. The high–contrasting images will sure help develop the baby’s eyesight. 

 If you do not have colorful picture books, you can use colorful cards. Hold them on your lap and point out the images to them. 

9. Shake a rattle on the side of the baby and watch if they turn to find the sound

This activity will be not only interesting for the baby to watch, but also important in strengthening their muscles. They will keep turning to watch the bubbles float on the air, a great way to exercise different body muscles. 

14. Touch baby’s feet and hands with different textures

This activity is ideal for testing your baby’s sense of touch. Be prepared for some fun moments because some materials will give a ticklish sensation to your baby. Collect a few materials with different textures and rub them against your baby’s feet, hands or belly. 

Some of the materials you can use for this activity are feathers, cotton, fluffy carpet, and a cold piece of metal. You can use soft, rough, silky, and bumpy textures to test the sensory development of your baby. 

Just be sure to select safe materials. You do not want to hurt your baby with unsafe materials. 

15. Play criss-cross to stretch baby’s limbs
