Strong woman poem to make you brave
I am a woman
I breathe see and feel things just like you
My body moves, walks, and talks
You’re not the only few
I am a woman
Growing.
Sprouting.
Blooming.
My mother tells me to be safe.
Walking the street might cause the wrong kind of breeze to blow my way.
My flower is not for anyone’s ruining.
They tell me to shut my mouth
Acting like I’m a venus fly trap.
Here trying to fill me with doubt
Acting like my mouth is the cap to their sprite’s stout.
Telling me that I’m a girl
That I still haven’t explored the world.
You know what? You’re right.
The world explored me
Even when I said no
They explored me like Columbus explored the sea.
You see,
We live in a world where people can get away with doing these things to us.
As women of today
When we protest they say we are throwing a fuss.
Guess what? Fuss is what you need to understand that things need to change!
Let’s be like Rosa Parks and deny sitting in the back of the bus.
Let’s be like Malala and wear our heads high to show our fight.
Let’s me like Frida Kahlo and create art that is raw and uncut.
Let’s be like Naomi Wadler and show that as women we are bright.
We stand here today to show that being different is okay.
Speaking up is being brave.
Speaking loud is being proud.
Being you is being unique.
As we grow into our figures despite our stunted growth I call society.
Let us flourish and become women of yesterday, women of today, women of tomorrow.
We are the future.
